Lufthansa will reduce a fleet and staff members

Deutsche Lufthansa AG has announced that intends to make further restructuring, Interfax writes. Previously, the airline expected to reach half of last year's average level of air transportation in the fourth quarter current year, but now these expectations have not been fulfilled. The company intends to further reduce its fleet as well as workplaces.
"Opportunities for international travel have been deteriorated significantly in recent weeks," as reported by the German carrier's statement. By the middle of the decade, Lufthansa will abandon permanently 150 aircrafts against the previously planned 100 aircrafts, including seven Airbus A340-600s. The company also intends to reduce more staff members than the previously announced reduction of 22 thousand full-time jobs. The airline declared that in the first quarter of 2021, the number of employees in management positions group would decrease by 20%, and administrative office facilities in Germany - by 30%.
The Lufthansa Group also includes Austrian Airlines, Swiss Airlines, Eurowings and Brussels Airlines. In 2019, the group had transported a record number of passengers, almost 145.2 million people. The flight load was at level of 82.5%. The fleet includes over 760 aircrafts. In addition to passenger and cargo air carriers, the group includes logistics, technical and service companies. At the end of last year, the staff has totaled over 138 thousand people.
