Business aviation activity worldwide continues recovering after the crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. In June, the number of enterprise-class charters was 70% from the level of June 2019, according to the latest data published by WingX Advance.
The business aviation segment is recovering faster than commercial air transport, where transport volumes in overall industry have been decreased by half compared to June last year. Regions outside the US and Europe were operated only 10% of business aviation flights in June. From these regions, the decline was the least significant in Oceania (by 10%), while in Asia it has been reached 30%. In Africa, the market has been reduced to 38%, although there an improvement is noticeable. By June previous year, business aviation activity in South America decreased: the crisis has not yet shown its destructive force.
"The market recovery came in a vulnerable period of time, when the lifting of restrictions is inhibited due to secondary outbreaks of disease. However, in general, a decline in activity of 30% in June by June previous year is a definite progress compared to a 50% failure in May, - Richard Co commented, WingX Advance Managing Director. Suggesting that markets continue opening, we expect a more pronounced recovery in July, primarily due to personal travel on light and middle-class business jets. Until now, flight owners have mostly resumed flights, but by mid-summer, we are waiting for the return of charter passengers. "
