On Sunday morning, the Chinese AG600 seaplane operated its first testing flight at sea.
The aircraft took off from Shangjihe Airport (RIZ / ZSRZ) and landed 46 minutes later in a designated area of the Yellow Sea, near Qingdao City. Thereafter, AG600 took off from the sea back to the Shangjihe airport.
The AG600 seaplane operated its first flight in December 2017 in Zhuhai. Ten months later, it made the first takeoff and landing into a reservoir on the Zhanghe river in Jingmen, Hubei Province.
The AG600 is primarily intended for fire fighting, but may be reequipped into marine environment monitoring, research and sea rescue. The PRC army intends to use the aircraft for maritime patrols.
