On May 27, The United Airlines leadership has announced to produce masks for respiratory protection. Products are made from the old staff uniform. It should be noted, fabric masks are part of a plan called CleanPlus to protect United staff and customers from the coronavirus, according to the airline's official website.
In a press release issued on May 27, United Airlines reported that 7,500 masks have been transferred since its launch. Personal protective equipment was sent to San Francisco International Airport employees. Products are expected to be released to employees and customers.
Initially, the textile was to be used to produce carpets and insulation materials for aircrafts. Due to the massive spread of coronavirus, the carrier’s press service noted that priorities have been changed in the United States. Providing reusable respiratory protection masks to employees working with passengers is one of the airline's projects.
