On June 1, Korean Air has begun providing a new baggage tracking service. Nowadays, Korean carrier sends notifications to passengers when their luggage has been safely loaded on the plane that helps to minimize the stress of travelers, according to Simple Flying Edition.
Reportedly, a luggage notification is sent to the tourist’s mobile device. Korean Air customer receives a notification: "Your KE123456 bag has been loaded on a KE082 flight to New York (JFK)." The program operates as follows: special service is reviewing an information received from the Baggage Reconciliation System (BRS) and compares information on barcodes scanned during check-in and loading. When the barcode of a bag passes through the loading area, a notification is sent to a passenger.
However, the new service has some limitations. The service is still available on Korean Air international flights from Incheon airport and only for Skypass Privileges Program members who have installed the Korean Air mobile application with the push notification. Meanwhile, as the carrier’s press service emphasizes, Korean Air intends to implement the new service at other airports worldwide.
