“Kazaeronavigatsia” RSE signed Cooperation Contract with “Air Astana” and “SCAT” airlines: A New Step to Improve Safety

Created on 30.04.2025 11:14

“Kazaeronavigatsia RSE signed a strategic cooperation contract with the country's leading air carriers – “Air Astana” and “SCAT”. The main goal is to strengthen interaction between pilots and air traffic controllers to improve the level of safety and efficiency of flights in the Republic of Kazakhstan.

A large-scale experience exchange program will be launched under the contract. By the end of 2025, more than 500 pilots of “Air Astana”, 50 pilots of “SCAT”, and at least 200 air traffic controllers of “Kazaeronavigatsia” RSE will take part in the initiative. The representatives of both sides will be able to visit each other's workplaces to better understand the specifics of their colleagues' work and strengthen interaction in real conditions.

Pilots from “Air Astana” and “SCAT” will visit the Automated Air Traffic Control System Centers, where they will be able to get an inside look at the decision-making process that directly impacts safety. In turn, air traffic controllers will take off to the skies in the cockpits as observers in order to understand in practice the specifics of crew work in real conditions.

In addition, under the contract, air traffic controllers will be present during pilot training on a FFS - Full Flight Simulator, where non-standard and emergency situations are modeled.  This will allow the specialists of “Kazaeronavigatsia” RSE to study in more depth the algorithms of pilot actions under conditions of increased stress and rapid response, as well as to increase the overall level of interaction between the parties.

“This is not just an agreement - it is an investment in safety culture. The better we understand each other, the more reliable each flight becomes. We are confident that such interaction between air traffic controllers and pilots will have a positive impact on the entire civil aviation system of the country,” noted Mr. Nurzhan Akhmetov, the Director General of “Kazaeronavigatsia” RSE.

The new interaction format will eliminate communication barriers, reduce the risk of operational errors and increase the speed and accuracy of information exchange in flight.

By the way, in 2024, in the airspace of our country, the specialists of “Kazaeronavigatsia” RSE serviced 446 106 flights, of which 111 850 were Kazakhstan and 334 256 were foreign airlines.
