Since April 11, the Ukrainian An-225 "Mriya" aircraft has begun carrying out humanitarian supplies. Thus, the largest cargo aircraft has joined the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, according to NEWS.ru.
Reportedly, the aircraft would transport humanitarian supplies with medical equipment and medicines from China to Eastern and Western Europe. According to its technical characteristics, the aircraft will be able to transport about 250 tons of various cargo per flight - this is the largest figure among all cargo aircrafts worldwide.
It should be noted, the An-255 dimensions are extremely impressive. The length of the aircraft is 84 meters, height - 18 meters, wingspan - 88 meters. It is worth noting, the An-225 belongs to Ukrainian Enterprise "Antonov Airlines". Five An-124-100 "Ruslan" aircrafts of this airline are already involved in the transportation of humanitarian supplies. Aircrafts are used for the carriage of goods to NATO and the EU.
