According to the Turister portal, Air France, the French airline intends to cancel 3,600 flights in March, reducing a quantity of long-haul operations by 13% compared with the primary plans. The flight quantity in Europe would decrease by 25%, and in France - by 17%.
Also, to cancel the trip or rebook for other dates is available for tickets purchased before March 31, 2020 with a departure period until May 31, 2020. The offer is valid for existing bookings, and for planned (until May 31). Therefore, the airline hopes that this option would reduce a stress among tourists and would avoid the additional costs when rebooking.
KLM, the Netherlands, might also reduce its long-haul flights on a similar scale. German Lufthansa, one of the largest airlines in Europe, will temporarily refuse to operate up to 50% of flights in the coming weeks due to a sharp drop of bookings.
