Japan Airlines decided to start developing environmentally friendly fuel for aircrafts. The carrier intends to use plastic waste for these purposes, according to HNK, the local broadcasting corporation. As it has became known, the Japanese company intends to create a new type of jet fuel using multi-stage processing of used plastic, resulting from activities of industrial enterprises and farms.
Japan Airlines is working on a new project in collaboration with a major trading company, Marubeni. A separate plant will be built in Japan to develop a production technology and create the first experimental samples. According to preliminary data, environmentally friendly fuel might be obtained by 2025. Previously, British Airways also has announced to produce an aviation fuel from waste. Special plant construction is scheduled for 2021.
