On February 11, Airbus has presented a demo of a new vehicle. The aircraft with an unusual fuselage and wings was called Maveric, according to Traveler. It has became known, when developing the aircraft, developers used a “combined wing construction”. In other words, the aircraft fuselage has actually a single wing, at its center - main cabin is located.
Notably, Maveric has a quite small size: a width - 3.2 meters and a length - 2 meters. To date, the prototype isn't equipped by a cabin interior, so there is no way to see the interior design. Such construction might reduce carbon emissions by 20% and to initiate a new era of "green" flights. Besides, since engines and other propulsion systems can be integrated into an aircraft, its driving force can also be revolutionary. Such aircrafts are difficult to manage, but it create less aerodynamic drag, which makes them more effective for operating.
“We are confident that it's time to develop such technologies, it would help us to solve global environmental problems,” said Jean-Bryce Dumont, Executive Vice President of Engineering, Airbus. “These are the next generation aircrafts”. At the same time, it's too early to say on whether such aircrafts will be able to appear in civil aviation within 5-10 years. Currently, Airbus employees are working on the cabin function, how the aircraft will be integrated into airports and, most importantly, how passengers of such aircraft will feel. Previously, KLM Airlines has announced the development of a new aircrafts.
