Spirit Airlines, American airline, has established an automated baggage drop-off at New York's La Guardia airport, according to the portal Aviation Transport Review. The carrier has noted, despite the fact that self-registration and baggage drop-off services are available at several American airports, Spirit was the first airline to introduce this technology entirely through its own investments.
The self-registration and baggage drop-off process involves two stages. First, a passenger needs to print the tag at the self-registration kiosk. Then he passes special self-service stations, where he scans his boarding pass and puts the luggage on the transport tape. Further, the system automatically measures and weighs a baggage, checks it for compliance with the standards established by the airline and redirects it to the common processing system for further loading onto the flight.
