In 2021, American company Wright Electric will launch a first electric engine for long-haul aircrafts. Flight-testing would begin in 2023, according to the publication FlightGlobal. Reportedly, Wright Electric is creating an electric engine, operating through DC to AC transformation - the platform  of the aircraft power.

Development partner on the global first passenger electric aircraft is EasyJet, British low-cost carrier. The airline has already designed a model project of a 186-seater electric aircraft. According to preliminary data, it will be called Wright 1. Jeffrey Engler, Wright Electric CEO, has noted that his company engaged into this project due to the needs in making the commercial aviation environmentally friendly - there are all possibilities for present day. The development of a special engine will allow "to make an incredible leap towards to the global mission implementation on air cleanness".

On December 10, 2019, Canadian company tested the world's first electric aircraft. This vehicle, designed for six people, had operated its test flight and successfully landed. It should be noted,  there are only  developments in small aviation area - enormous passenger aircrafts, operating by electric engines, have not yet been invented.
