One of the most anticipated aircraft in the world, Airbus Beluga XL, operated its first flight. Experts are confident that it would open a new era in the construction of passenger aircrafts that will be operated in civil aviation over the next decades, according to CNN Travel.
This super cargo transporter in the shape of a whale-beluga was developed by Airbus for carriage of air transport components between its manufacturing sites in Europe and its final assembly lines in France, Germany and China. Airbus called this aircraft a significant for the company. A vehicle, launched into the sky, is the successor to Beluga or Airbus A300-600ST, which has been flying since 1995.
The aircraft design was adapted from the A330 aircraft, while Airbus engineers had lowered the take-off deck and built a huge cargo compartment, from where the whale image has appeared. The total length of the aircraft is 63 meters and the width is 8 meters. The flight range is up to 4,000 km. The constructors also noted, that despite the unusual appearance of the aircraft, its control is similar to the A330 aircraft. Over the next three years, will be built another five Beluga XL aircrafts.
