From January 1, 2020, the fifth and seventh air freedom modes will begin operating at all international airports of Azerbaijan. Foreign airlines will be able to operate from Azerbaijani airports to 40 countries of Europe, North America, Australia and Southeast Asia.
Currently, there are six Azerbaijan airports, having an international status: apart from the capital's airport named after Heydar Aliyev in Baku, it is also airports of Nakhichevan, Ganja, Gabala, Lenkoran and Zagatal. All air harbors are situated under the control of "Azerbaijan Airlines" CJSC (which includes the similar airline).
There are seven acting civil airports in the republic, including the Yevlakh airport. According to the press service of Azerbaijan Airlines, for the first time in the history of its civil aviation, the fifth and seventh air freedom modes will operate at the airports of this country.
Previously, permits for such flights in Azerbaijan were issued to airlines individually. All six international airports of the republic have ICAO categories up to the third, are equipped with modern equipment, and have also the necessary conditions for ground handling, aviation security, border and customs control.
