Airbus, the largest European aircraft company, is developing the most sustainable aircraft. The first such liners may appear by the 2030s, according to Bloomberg.
Airbus intends to construct regional aircrafts, operating without harmful emissions. It is reported. that the liners will be able to transfer about 100 passengers. It has became known, that the air concern is currently studying several approaches for reducing carbon emissions. Airbus cooperates with multiple partners (including engine manufacturers and various startups) to create more fuel-efficient engines and alternative fuels.
“At the moment, there is no unique solution to the environmental issue by 2050, but there are some developments with an integrated approach, which might give a positive result,” said Sandra Schaeffer, CEO of ExO Alpha Airbus. - To reduce the harm from major aircrafts, a lot of modern technologies would have to be used, so their process implementation would take a significant time. But smaller regional aircrafts will be able to operate without emissions at the beginning of the 2030s.” It should be noted, currently, multiple companies and organizations are involved into the environmental problem in civil aviation. Thus, KLM airline is creating a new V-shaped liner. It is assumed, that the new construction and ultralight materials would allow to reduce the harmful effect on the environment. NASA scientists are developing a fundamentally new type of fuel.
