Increasingly, airlines worldwide are introducing boarding technology for face recognition without presenting a boarding pass, according to Travel Daily Media.
From November 1, Korean Air passengers from Atlanta to Seoul have been on board after a face scanning. The boarding pass need had disappeared. This procedure has become available due to the newest technology, which makes a photo of the passenger’s face and automatically checks if it matches the passport and boarding pass information. The airline noted, the service would increase the effectiveness of identity verification and strengthen security, while reducing the time of boarding.
Currently, Korean Air has already used the face recognition at Singapore and Los Angeles airports. Carrier's representatives also said, they are going to reduce the registration time by a third. For this purpose, the company will begin expanding the number of self-registration and baggage labeling kiosks. Particularly, such an action plan will be implemented at Incheon Airport. More and more airlines and airports worldwide begin introducing the biometric systems, allowing passengers to go without boarding passes and passports to the aircraft.
