The Russian airline Aeroflot, is planning to provide free wi-fi access for all passengers on board. The service may appear on carrier flights in 2020, according to TASS.
In the coming year, Aeroflot will begin operating the A320neo aircrafts, which are equipped with Internet access. Ordered Russian-made MS-21 aircrafts also support an Internet connection. Besides, the carrier plans to equip 18 existing Boeing 777 aircrafts for providing Wi-Fi Internet access. In the future, the airline wants to re-equip all aircrafts of the Airbus A320 family (81 in the fleet) and install the Internet access system.
“Our passengers do not see themselves on board without having the Internet access. At the moment, we are not talking about online viewing of news feeds, but providing access to e-mail and messengers is what we are able to offer our clients,” said Kirill Bogdanov, Deputy General Director IT of Aeroflot. We also considered the issue of free Internet on board (not only for using messengers) at the expense of advertisers. We are negotiating, I think it is possible".
