Two major Kazakhstan air carriers will launch flights to Saudi Arabia, according to Tengri Travel with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan. According to the agency, Air Astana is planning to organize regular flights on the routes Almaty - Medina and Almaty - Jeddah twice a week. "Currently, the airline has submitted the relevant documents to obtain permits for the above flights. Upon receipt of the relevant permits, the airline is ready to begin operating these flights by the end of this year," stated in message.
SCAT is also interested in operating flights to Saudi Arabia. The air carrier plans to perform flights along the same routes on the Boeing 757 aircraft from the beginning of December 2019. Currently, the airline certification process is underway in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Since 2016, SCAT Airlines has been carrying out irregular flights to Saudi Arabia for the transport of Kazakhstan pilgrims during the Hajj season. Conversely, from the Saudi Arabia, flights for the transport of Kazakhstan pilgrims are operated by FlyNas. Saudi Arabia's airlines has not yet planned to operate regular flights to Kazakhstan, according to the MIID.
