Air Antwerp, a new airline, has appeared in Belgium. It’s first flight was operated from Dörne Airport (Antwerp) to London (UK). According to the Het laatste nieuws, Flemish edition, airline employees went on first aircraft to London. Air Antwerp leaders and experts are still cautious in forecasts regarding air carrier prospects.
It is known, that the airline, which previously concluded an agreement with the Dutch KLM, considers the flight to London via Brussels is uncomfortable and long, so the Antwerp - London flight will be operated four times a week on Fokker 50 aircraft.
Air Antwerp was created in May and is owned by the Irish carrier CityJet (75%) and the Dutch KLM (25%). The Air Antwerp headquarters is located in Antwerp (Flanders) - the second most populated city in Belgium after Brussels.
