In Britain, airlines are urging to weigh passengers for reducing fuel costs, according to The Sun.
The Fuel Matrix, British company, is fighting for an introduction of a forced passenger weighing system. According to the innovation initiators, fuel consumption can vary significantly, both up and down, depending on the total carried weight. Using the collected data of the passenger weight, carriers will be able to determine the exact amount of aviation kerosene, required for a specified flight. This, in turn would help to reduce carbon dioxide emissions into the environment.
Currently, Fuel Matrix is engaged in negotiations on the system implementation with UK several carriers. Weighing is proposed to be operated out using special “pressure pads” when passengers check-in or check their luggage. Each passenger will have to agree to a weighing procedure. All received information will be confidentially transmitted to the airline.
