Mi-8 helicopters will begin collecting in Almaty in 2020

In Kazakhstan, the large-unit assembly of Mi-8AMT / Mi-171 helicopters will operate later than the previously announced deadlines - not earlier than 2020. The relevant agreement was reached during a meeting between Roman Sklyar, the Minister of Industry and Infrastructure Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Denis Manturov, the Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation at the MAKS- air show 2019, according to ATO.ru.
The contract for aircraft assembly between the Russian holding “Russian Helicopters”, the Ministry of Defense and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan, “Kazakhstan Engineering” company and the Aircraft Repair company was signed in January 2019 at the Aircraft Repair Plant No. 405 in Almaty. Helicopter assembly can be launched in the first half of next year, however, the exact dates of the project are not mentioned.
To date, in Kazakhstan, the main customers of the Mi-8AMT / Mi-171 helicopters are several government agencies and commercial airlines.
