On May 30, 2019, Head of State Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev signed a decree on the celebration of the 175th anniversary of the birth of Abay Kunanbayev.

On May 31 this year, the #Abai175 challenge was launched on social networks. Users from 12 countries joined the Kazakhstan campaign - Russia, Belarus, Great Britain, Italy, Egypt, Turkey, USA, Ukraine, Australia, Kyrgyzstan, France and China.

Challenge was launched by a graduate of the Bolashak program, Shynar Shaken. She suggested reading Abay’s poems, and uploading videos to the Web. The action gained popularity after a 9-year-old schoolgirl Lailim-Shyra from the capital passed the baton to Head of State Kassym-Zhomart Tokaev. The President read an excerpt from the poem “Ǵylym tappaı maqtanba”, calling on young people to science, education, and achieving goals. Then he passed the baton to the Minister of Science and Education Askhat Aymagambetov, the Minister of Culture and Sports Aktota Rayymkulova and the world famous talented singer Dimash Kudaibergen.

The knowledge of Abay’s creativity was demonstrated by many well-known Kazakhstani cultural and sports figures, politicians, and international diplomats.

In order to maintain the relay race for the 175th anniversary of Abay as part of the Day of Languages of the Peoples of Kazakhstan, the workers of the Karaganda branch of the RSA “Kazaeronavigatsia” held an event to read the poems of Abay Kunanbayev on 5th September, 2019.

At the event, employees of the branch read the poem of the great Abay in Kazakh, Russian, German and English. Also workers of the remote positions “Balkhash” and “Zhezkazgan”, whose talents could be seen through a video conference.

The chief accountant A.Zh. Bekseitova, the meteorological service head S.S. Mukashev, the head of the administrative supply department A.A. Kyrgyzalyn, the engineers KRTOP V.V. Delkhman, A.K. Ibrakhimova, A.V. Gordeev, archivist B.A. Akimbekova, the young specialists of the branch A.A. Magzumova, A.S. Tasanov, N.E. Sarbaev, S.Zh. Zhanbyrbaev, S.M. Maksutova, T.E. Nurakhmetova, took an active part.

Such workers were especially distinguished as the head of the Balkhash remote position D.V. Bukhalo, flight manager D.N. Storchevoy, dispatcher - trainee V. Kuzbarsky, head of ERTOS service V.I. Yassakov, engineer KRTOP A.A. Konovalov who expressively read Abai’s poems in Kazakh.

Deputy Head of the OVD service V.A. Aab, the dispatcher - trainees A. Muratbek and Kalymbet B.N. read the poems in German and English languages.

In turn, the employees of the branch transferred this baton to the teams of JSC “Sary-Arka Airport” and the Ust-Kamenogorsk branch of RSA “Kazaeronavigatsia”.

The Chairman of the Board of JSC “Sary-Arka Airport” S. Kushkinov, who was present at the event with his colleagues, gratefully accepted the baton.

The event ended with Abay’s song “Kózіmnіń qarasy”. The beautiful song was performed by the engineer KRTOP A.V. Gordeev and archivist B.A. Akimbekova.
