In May 2020, Zipair Tokyo, the Japanese low-cost airline, will begin operating, the launch of which was announced a previous year. The new Japanese carrier has already received an operator’s certificate, and plans to start operating before the Japan Olympic Games, according to Ato.ru.
Zipair Tokyo calls its base airport Narita in Tokyo, and legally, the company is Japan Airlines’s (JAL) subsidiary, but will specialize exclusively in low-cost flights to medium and long-haul destinations.
The first routes of the new airline will be Tokyo-Bangkok and Tokyo-Seoul, if in the first direction, airline is the only one low-fare carrier, and then in the second direction - it will have 5 local competitors. The company doesn’t want to limit itself by above described flights and intends to develop European and trans-Pacific destinations.
