Lufthansa airline and Swiss, its subsidiary carrier, have begun testing a new system for boarding their passengers. It is intended to reduce a procedure time by 40%, according to Buying Business Travel.
The new landing system is called Wilma. Its essence that, firstly, in the aircraft’s cabin are entering passengers, whose seats are located by the window, then passengers with seats in the middle and, finally, passengers with seats at the aisle. The exceptions are parents with children, couples and groups. Also, business class passengers first can go to the salon.
According to research, the Wilma method should speed up the process of boarding passengers by 35%. Until now, airlines’s customers entered the salon in a chaotic manner, because of many people have to stand in the aisle, waiting for others, and let their neighbors go to the window. By November, Lufthansa intends to introduce a new landing method on all flights. Until that time, it will be tested at several German airports. The experiment should be completed in September.
