Airbus, the European aircraft manufacturer, works on the establishment of a new model A-321XLR, a passenger aircraft for record long-haul flights. According to German FVW, the aircraft is intended to get ahead of the main competitor - Boeing.
Christian Scherer, Airbus's head of sales, at Le Bourget, the world's largest air show near Paris, he announced , compared to the Boeing B-757 aircraft, which usually flew on such routes, the A-321XLR has 30% less fuel consumption and more low carbon emissions. This makes the new model suitable for routes between Europe and America or between Europe and India.
From 2023, the new model will be available for airlines.
Meanwhile, at the Le Bourget air show, Airbus has presented the A321neo passenger aircraft. The model belongs to the Airbus A320 family, but with a new engine option. The aircraft has improved its fuel and exploitation modifications, reduced noise level and has a modified wing. Soon, this medium-haul aircraft will begin transporting Lufthansa passengers.
