Famous Irish budget company Ryanair, has announced the purchase of Malta Air, a young Maltese start-up carrier, according to FVW. In the near future leadership plans is a transfer of six own Boeing vehicles and 200 crew members to an island state in the Mediterranean Sea and expand its fleet. Currently, Malta Air serves three million passengers per year. Within five years, the new carrier will increase the volume to five million people. According to the Irish, these investments will help Ryanair gain access to markets beyond the EU, such as North Africa.
Ryanair also plans to re-register more than 50 aircrafts and crews based in Germany, France and Italy. This action will allow crews to pay much lower income tax in Malta, and not in Ireland, where they currently do so in accordance with the law.
