The Aviation Administration of Kazakhstan, with the support of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Border Service of the National Security Committee, conducted Coordination exercises on organizing and conducting search and rescue operations in the Caspian Sea.
The search and rescue operation took place in the airspace of Kazakhstan, where our country is responsible for providing air traffic services.
The exercise involved the Search and Rescue Coordination Center (SCRC), the ATS service of the Atyrau subsidiary of the "Kazaeronavigatsia" RSE, the Command Center for Strategic Planning and Operational Management of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Kazakhstan of Astana, the Border Service of the National Security Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Nord Caspian Operating Company N.V., JSC "Kazaviaspas" and the territorial division of the Emergency Situations of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Kazakhstan with experience in emergency rescue operations on water bodies to strengthen forces and means.
It is worth noting that the search and rescue coordination center was formed based on the Kazaeronavigatsia enterprise, and ensures the operational coordination of forces and means of the involved services to carry out search and rescue activities for aircraft that are in or have been in distress on the territory of Kazakhstan.
During the exercises, specialists worked out the elements of emergency notification in accordance with the scheme for alerting the forces and means of interested bodies, departments and individuals, as well as conducting a search and rescue operation for a helicopter crew in conditional distress in the Caspian Sea.
The main goal of the exercise was to develop effective methods for searching and evacuating victims at sea. The coordinated actions of the services in the Caspian Sea made it possible to successfully complete the search and rescue operation within three hours.
By the way, the exercises are an important element of the national search and rescue flight support system, helping to increase the level of rapid response to aviation accidents throughout the country, including the Caspian Sea.
