Russian Federation renamed airports

President Vladimir Putin, had issued a decree, and gave a number of Russian airports the names of famous fellow countrymen, according to Interfax.
Sheremetyevo International Airport received the name of Alexander Pushkin, Domodedovo - Mikhail Lomonosov, Vnukovo - Andrey Tupolev.
Besides, the Voronezh International Airport (Chertovitskoe) was named after Peter the Great, Kaliningrad (Khrabrovo) - Empress Elizaveta Petrovna, Krasnodar (Pashkovsky) - Catherine 2, Murmansk – Nicholay (Nicholas) 2.
Decree takes its force since the day of its signing. The names were chosen in the contest “Great Names of Russia”, during which Russians chose names for 47 airports in honor of famous scientists, commanders, public and political figures of the country.
