One of the major manufacturers of large passenger aircrafts in the world, the European concern Airbus, celebrated its 50th anniversary with a spectacular air show, according to Flightglobal.
The company was founded on May 29, 1969, when France and Germany governments signed an agreement about launching a joint program to create the world's first wide-body A300 twin-engine aircraft, at the Le Bourget Air Show. The goal of the European states was the fight against dominance in the western civil aviation market of aircraft manufacturing companies from the United States.
During this time, Airbus has delivered over 12 thousand aircrafts to customers, including 800 aircrafts last year. On March 31, the Airbus order book amounted to 7357 aircrafts. Today, Airbus is one of the world's leading aircraft manufacturers, with more than 130,000 employees in 180 cities worldwide.
