The Global ATM Summit was held in Baku

From June 11 to 13, the CANSO Global ATM Summit 2024 was held in Baku, organized by the Air Traffic Control “Azeraeronavigatsia” (AZANS), part of Azerbaijan Airlines CJSC, which is the body responsible for aviation services of flights in the airspace of Azerbaijan. About 350 civil aviation executives from more than 100 countries around the world expressed their desire to become part of the international event. Representatives of “Kazaeronavigatsia” RSE led by Mr. Nurzhan Akhmetov, the Director General also took part in the summit.
The opening ceremony of the summit in Baku was addressed by Mr. Simon Hocquard, the CANSO Director General, Mr. Mukhtar Babayev, the Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources, the COP29 President-designate and Mr. Salvatore Sciacchitano, the President of International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Council in a video message format.
“Let's use this event as a platform to exchange ideas, best practices and forge new partnerships. By working together, we can reduce global gas emissions and make a significant contribution to achieving our common goals in the fight against climate change,” said Mr. Mukhtar Babayev, the Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources and COP29 President-designate.
World leaders in air traffic management field and CANSO members discussed key issues to make important decisions for the future of the organization. All of them are related to environmental sustainability, issues of reducing the carbon footprint of aviation, the introduction of innovative technologies, improving the air traffic control process to achieve more environmentally friendly flights.
Also on June 14, a meeting of General Directors of Euro-Asian ANSPs was held. The general development concept was presented here, as well as the CANSO ATFM (Air Traffic Flow Management) data exchange network.
As part of the four-day event, specialists from “Kazaeronaugiatsia” RSE held bilateral meetings with heads of air navigation service providers from other countries, representatives of CANSO and partner companies.
