The 7th meeting of the expert group of the international civil aviation organization ICAO to promote the implementation of standards and recommended practices in the field of air navigation services was held today in Astana.
The official meeting was opened with a welcome address by Mr. Talgat Lastayev, the Vice Minister of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan. In his speech, he noted that for a country with impressive transit potential in terms of air transportation, it is extremely important for us to become attractive to partner countries. The shortest route allows the Republic of Kazakhstan to become a connecting link between Asia and Europe.
During the meeting, an exchange of experience and analysis of significant operational improvements in the field of air navigation services took place, which includes air traffic management, aeronautical information management, meteorological, radio engineering, search and rescue flight support and others.
Mr. Nurzhan Akhmetov, Director General of “Kazaeronavigatsia” RSE:
Today, the compliance level of the air navigation system of the Republic of Kazakhstan with ICAO standards is 95%. We also face the challenges of efficient use of airspace, air traffic management, cybersecurity and the use of new technologies in the field of air navigation services.
It is worth noting that during 2023, our specialists served 415,497 flights in the airspace of the Republic of Kazakhstan, which is 5,015 more flights than in 2022. In general, there is a positive dynamics in the growth of the number of flights, which is why ICAO platforms are important for discussing current issues, exchanging experiences between countries and developing the best solutions.
The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) is a specialized agency of the United Nations that mission is to establish international standards for civil aviation and coordinate its development in the field of improving the safety and efficiency of flights. In addition to general provisions and safety issues, it is the ICAO that sets the boundaries of airspace, assigns call signs to airlines, and unique four-letter codes to aerodromes. It is these identifiers that are used to transmit aeronautical and meteorological information.
The event was attended by more than 50 experts from 10 countries, as well as representatives of the Civil Aviation Committee of the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the International Civil Aviation Organization ICAO, the International Air Transport Association IATA, Eurocontrol, the Aviation Administration of Kazakhstan, the “Kazaeronavigatsia” RSE, Astana and Almaty international airports, and “Air Astana”, Kazaviaspas airlines.
It is worth noting that the organizer of the international event, which will last in the Capital from April 8 to 12, was the Enterprise “Kazaeronavigatsia”.
