More than 1.4 billion tenge from the national budget in 2019 is planned to be sent to subsidize the flight Nur Sultan - Tokyo, according to the reference materials for the plenary session of the Senate of the Parliament, Interfax-Kazakhstan writes.

This information was confirmed by Vice-Minister of industry and infrastructure development Kairbek Uskenbayev.

 "At the initial stage – as this is a trial route - while business structures have not yet begun to fly, tourist routes are not worked out, support is needed. This is a world practice," he commented to journalists on the inclusion in the list of expenses of the Republican budget for 2019, subsidizing the Nur-Sultan - Tokyo flight.

Earlier it was reported that a direct flight between Kazakhstan and Japan can be opened in 2019.

Kazakhstan and Japan airlines have the right to operate 14 regular flights per week from each side without restrictions. Destinations for Kazakh carriers - Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, and for Japanese - Nursultan, Almaty and Karaganda.

The legal framework required for regular flights between Kazakhstan and Japan was established in 2016.
