“Azerbaijan airlines” will receive the first Boeing 737 MAX aircrafts in the second half of the year

Airline “Azerbaijan Airlines” (AZAL, part of the CJSC “AZAL”) in the second half of 2019 will receive the first aircrafts of the new generation of Boeing 737 MAX, Jahangir Askerov said, the chief of CJSC AZAL. This is reported by Interfax Azerbaijan.
“From the second half of 2019, the AZAL fleet will begin refilling with new modern Boeing 737 MAX aircrafts, the total number of which will reach ten,” added J. Askarov, whose words are quoted in the press service of “AZAL”.
According to the society’s information, the chief of “AZAL” held a meeting on Tuesday with a delegation of the European Commission on Transport and Mobility, headed by CEO Henrik Holloleyem.
“The parties discussed the perspectives of cooperation and the application of the experience of European experts in Azerbaijani civil aviation. The purpose of the delegation’s visit to Azerbaijan is an agreement on a common aviation space between Azerbaijan and the European Union”, the report says.
In April 2017, the Azerbaijani airline “Silk Way Airlines” and “Boeing” signed a contract for the purchase of 10 Boeing 737 MAX passenger planes. The operator of these aircrafts will be “AZAL”. The total amount of the agreement is about $ 1 billion. All aircrafts must be delivered to Azerbaijan before the end of 2020.
