From May 30 to June 01, 2023, representatives of “Kazaeronavigatsia” RSE, headed by Managing Director-Chief of Staff K. Kaken, took part in the ICAO Global Implementation Support Symposium under the theme “Together for an innovative and sustainable global aviation community” Seoul, Republic of Korea.
The event brings together the ICAO World Aviation Forum (IWAF), the Global Aviation Cooperation Symposium (GACS) and the Global Aviation Training Symposium and TRAINAIR PLUS to explore the Organization's latest digital tools, key initiatives and collaborative efforts to support aviation sustainability, innovation and operational solutions.
On the first day of the Symposium, representatives of “Kazaeronavigatsia” RSE took part in the meeting of the TRAINAIR PLUS Steering Committee. Professional Training Center of “Kazaeronavigatsia” RSE has been a member of this Committee since 2020. Members of the ICAO TRAINING/GAT Central Office for Training and the TRAINAIR PLUS Steering Committee (TPSC) gathered at the 13th meeting to discuss the results of the activities carried out to promote the TRAINAIR PLUS program at the global and regional levels as well as got acquainted with the latest ICAO rebranding initiative.
The Symposium addressed the most pressing issues of flight safety, aviation security and the sustainability of the aviation industry: Tailored Funding Modalities, Collaboration and Implementation Support Programmes for Global Civil Aviation; Scaling Up and Financing the Production of Sustainable Aviation Fuels to Meet Net-Zero Carbon Emissions by 2050.
Separate panels were under the theme of aviation personnel training. The future perspectives of digital civil aviation education were discussed. One of the main trends in education is the use of virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) technologies. Another major trend is the use of artificial intelligence (AI), which adapts to individual needs and learning styles. The speakers discussed the problem of a significant shortage of qualified professionals in the aviation industry, including pilots, mechanics, engineers and technicians. This deficit is expected to continue in the coming years, posing a major challenge to the growth and sustainability of the industry. The session participants considered the role that academia can play in shaping the industry. Cooperation between educational institutions and industry organizations can solve this problem and create a flow of qualified specialists who have been trained and are ready to enter as aviation personnel.
Within the framework of the Symposium, the representatives of the "Kazaeronavigatsia" RSE held a number of bilateral meetings on cooperation in the field of aviation personnel training: the Management of the ICAO TRAINAIR PLUS office, the Airports Council International, the Incheon Airport Aviation Academy, the Global Air Navigation Services (GANS) company, the Singapore Aviation Academy, as well as with the aviation authorities of Mongolia and Uzbekistan and other participants and partners of the TRAINAIR PLUS program.
The ICAO Global Symposium served as a platform to bring together current and potential technical cooperation partners, TRAINAIR PLUS (TPP) participants and other industry stakeholders, including: ministries, aviation administrations, international and regional organizations, aviation service providers, airport operators, airlines, financial and academic institutions.
