Xiamen Air has returned Boeing 737MAX-8 aircraft to commercial operation, becoming the ninth Chinese airline to do so, following in the footsteps of Air China, China Southern Airlines, Fuzhou Airlines, Hainan Airlines, Jiuyuan Airlines, Lucky Air, Shandong Airlines and Shenzhen Airlines.
The first operator to return the Boeing 737MAX to the schedule on January 13 after almost four years of inactivity of this type of aircraft was China Southern Airlines.
Xiamen Air was one of the largest users of the B-737MAX-8 before the Chinese Civil Aviation Administration (CAAC) was one of the first in the world to ban the MAX in March 2019.
The situation of uncertainty forced Xiamen, which operates only American aircraft, to place an order for 40 new narrow-body aircraft of the Airbus A320neo family in 2022. The delivery of the first A321neo took place on 1 January.
