Hong Kong airport officially puts into operation the third RWY

According to officials, the system with three runways - 3RS - will significantly increase the capacity of the Hong Kong airport for handling passengers and cargo. Thanks to this, Hong Kong will maintain and strengthen its status as a major international aviation hub, and the airport city is already turning into a new showplace.

The construction work on 3RS began in August 2016. In four years, 650 hectares of land have been reclaimed. The 3,800 m long runway became operational in July 2022. The expansion of Terminal 2, the construction of the T2 terminal concourse, the new baggage handling system and the automated people movement system are scheduled to be completed in 2024 within the approved budget.
