Seven Chinese leasing companies have signed on to purchase 300 C919 medium-haul aircraft. This is the first order for a locally developed next-generation aircraft since it received a type certificate from the Chinese aviation authorities.
The orders were announced by manufacturer COMAC via its social media account, which also announced an order for 30 ARJ21 regional jets.
Each leasing companies Bocom Leasing (Bank of Communications Financial Leasing), CCB Financial Leasing and CMB Financial Leasing ordered 50 C919s and 10 ARJ21s. CDB Leasing (China Development Bank Leasing) and ICBC Leasing ordered 50 C919s. SPDB Financial Leasing placed an order for 30 medium-haul aircraft and Jiangsu Financial Leasing for another 20 C919s.
COMAC specifically noted that the deal with Bocom Leasing was signed by Lessor's Irish subsidiary, which should help promote the aircraft on the international market.
This became known at the ongoing Airshow China 2022 in Zhuhai, where the C919 is shown to the public for the first time.
