On November 1-2, 2022, the 12th meeting of the thirteen members of the TRAINAIR PLUS Steering Committee (TPSC) of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) took place in Schiphol-Rijk, the Netherlands. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss updates made by the ICAO Secretariat and GAT on practical proposals for the implementation of training activities under the TRAINAIR PLUS Program (TPP).
TPSC Steering Committee members attending the meeting were JAA TO Training Centre, Air Traffic and Navigation Service (ATNS/South Africa), Singapore Aviation Academy (SAA/Singapore), Agência Nacional de Aviação Civil (ANAC/Brazil), East African School of Aviation (EASA/Kenya), Airports Council International (ACI/Canada), National School of Civil Aviation (ENAC/France), Lumed Cabin Crew Training Center (LCCTC/Morocco), Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT/Nigeria), Incheon Airport Aviation Academy (IAAA/South Korea), Republican State Enterprise Kazaeronavigatsia (Kazakhstan) and Saudi Academy of Civil Aviation (SACA/GACA/Kingdom of Saudi Arabia), joined by ICAO GAT delegates Dr. Laura Camastra and Rolando Tamayo, and virtual observers of the meeting - representatives of the Superior Academy of Aeronautical Sciences (ASCA / Dominican Republic).
Paula V. de Almeida, the Chairman of the TPSC Steering Committee, the Director General of JAA TO, after welcoming all members of the committee, presented the minutes of the last 11th meeting of the TPSC held at the ICAO GISS Global Symposium in Istanbul in June 2022. After reviewing the submissions on ICAO's training activities in the TPP regions, Members identified key areas requiring solutions and practical proposals.
Discussions on the GAT and TPSC proposals took place in two working groups that identified the way forward and mandated members to coordinate the analysis and implementation of the plan by TPP members in the regions. Two days of cooperation brought concrete results. Coordination will be carried out by global and regional subgroup leaders for the ten ICAO training areas in accordance with training needs and planning for upcoming training activities in conjunction with ICAO GAT. This will help optimize the ICAO annual global training calendar to meet the training needs under TPP program and address training issues in certain regions. A number of marketing and outreach activities were also proposed at the regional and global levels to assist Members in disseminating information and proposals for their ICAO courses through the TPP network.
