SpaceX announced the launch of Starlink Aviation's high-speed satellite Internet service for aircrafts. The Starlink Aviation project website indicates that the connection speed on the airliners will be reached 350 megabits per second, allowing all the passengers to simultaneously get access to streaming Internet.
"With a latency of just 20 milliseconds, passengers can be engaged in activities previously unavailable in flights, including video calls, online gaming, virtual private networks and other high data rate activities," the message says. From 2023, the company promises to provide high-speed Internet access throughout the flight.
To connect to the program on board, it will be necessary to install a special equipment worth 150,000 dollars. The subscription fee ranges from 12.5 thousand to 25 thousand dollars per month. The equipment set can already be booked on the SpaceX website for $5,000, but deliveries will begin in 2023.
