Middle East airlines are preparing for a market recovery and the emergence of a new national carrier in Saudi Arabia. These topics were the most discussed during the Annual General Assembly of 34 airlines, members of the Arab Air Carriers Organization (AACO).

In 2022, the passenger traffic of the AACO's airlines will be approximately 80% of the pre-pandemic level, and this baseline is predicted to be exceeded by 2.5% in 2023. In the first four months of 2022, AACO member airlines increased their passenger traffic by 240%, thereby returning up to 82% of their scheduled flights.

Meanwhile, AACO airlines have to consider and implement the most important issues and tasks, such as the development of common standards and guidelines with the World Health Organization (WHO) and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) in preventing a repeat of the pandemic; the complete digitalization of airlines, regulators and providers in order to meet the demands of passengers and improve the services provided.
