Created on 22.10.2022 14:40

AZAL is implementing a global real-time flight surveillance system into the airspace of Azerbaijan using the Aireon satellite system, meeting the most demanding ATC requirements, according to the press service of "Azerbaijan Airlines". The innovation will enable to take full advantage of the technologies offered within the framework of the global evolution processes in the aerospace industry.

On October 18, 2022, the agreement was signed between AZAL President Jahangir Askerov and Aireon President Don Tom. The system will allow AZANS to enhance the economic efficiency and environmental safety of routes in the airspace of Azerbaijan. By default, the system calculates and draws up optimal routes, thereby reducing a fuel consumption and harmful emissions into the atmosphere. Thus, this system will enable to quickly obtain any flight information of Azerbaijani airlines worldwide.

Aireon is a partnership of satellite operators such as Iridium Communications Inc., Nav Canada (Canada Air Navigation), NATS (UK Air Navigation), ENAV (Italian Air Navigation), Naviair (Norwegian Air Navigation) and the Irish Aviation Authority. The company has developed the world's first satellite real-time surveillance system using the ADS-B satellite-based automatic dependent surveillance network.
