Amsterdam Airport Schiphol has announced their proposal to extend the limit on the number of passengers departing from the airport until early 2023. The restrictions are expected to last until the end of March, but the administration would consider the situation again later this year.
Currently, airport officials are working with security companies and trade unions that are engaged in strenuous efforts to improve the situation. The underlying problem is still related to the lack of staff. The press release does not specify the figures for capacity limits since slot coordinators will be working with airlines to meet the requirements of the airport.
Schiphol Airport is one of the uploaded airports worldwide in terms of international passenger traffic. According to the Airports Council International, in 2021 the airport ranked the third place by the number of international passengers, second only to Dubai and Istanbul airports.
