It is planned to increase the number of flights between Kazakhstan and Romania

A meeting was held between Mr. Almaz Idyrysov, the Vice Minister of Industry and Infrastructural Development оf the Republic of Kazakhstan and Mr. Bogdan Mindrescu, the State Secretary of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Romania. The meeting was also attended by Mr. Talgat Lastayev, the Chairman of the Civil Aviation Committee, Mr. Nicole Stoica, the Director General of the Civil Aviation Authority of Romania, Mr. Catalin Radu, the Director General of Aviation Administration of Kazakhstan JSC and the representatives of the Romanian Embassy in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
During the meeting, the parties discussed a number of cooperation issues in the field of air, road, rail and sea transport and expressed their readiness to further develop cooperation in all modes of transport, and agreed to create expert working groups on the issues raised.
Mr. T. Lastayev, the Chairman of the Civil Aviation Committee and Mr. B. Mindrescu, the State Secretary of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Romania signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the aviation authorities of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Romania. According to the Memorandum, the airlines of both countries received the right to operate 14 flights per week (7 passenger and 7 cargo) between the two countries from each side on any type of aircraft.
Also, within the framework of the “open skies” regime, the Kazakhstan side offered the Romanian side to fly to Kazakhstan using the 5th degree of “air freedom”. So, at the beginning of 2020, the Romanian airline “Blue Air” planned to start flights on the Bucharest-Nur-Sultan route. However, due to the spread of coronavirus infection, the opening date of the flight on the route Bucharest - Nur-Sultan was postponed indefinitely.
At the same time, Mr. N. Stoica, the Director General of the Civil Aviation Authority of Romania and Mr. K. Radu, the General Director of “Aviation Administration of Kazakhstan” JSC signed an Agreement on Technical Cooperation. Following the meeting, the parties agreed to continue work on the launch of direct regular flights between Kazakhstan and Romania.
