Since September 10 of this year, the “Zonal boarding” project has been launched in pilot mode at the airports of Kazakhstan. The main idea of the project is the implementation of the boarding passengers using zonal technology, that is, in groups, which will significantly improve the quality and speed of service of citizens during their stay at airports. As part of the project, passengers will be boarded depending on the occupied seat on aircraft board. At the same time, unaccompanied children and passengers with limited mobility for boarding will pass out of the main queue on a priority basis in accordance with applicable law.
Currently, the process of boarding passengers takes place without special technology, with the exception of the priority boarding of unaccompanied children and passengers with limited mobility, as a result of which, after the announcement of boarding an aircraft, there is a congestion of passengers at the gates / doors to the telescopic passageway.
It is assumed that the introduction of zonal boarding will serve as a positive solution to the above situations.
The pilot project will involve Air Astana, Fly Arystan and SCAT. Zonal boarding will be carried out only at those airports where there are telescopic passageway: in the cities of Nur-Sultan, Aktau, Aktobe, Turkestan and Karaganda. The project for three months, upon which a decision will be made on the further use of zonal boarding.
