Several airlines have been forced to suspend their flights due to a lack of spare parts, according to The Wall Street Journal. Lufthansa, Qatar Airways and the US regional Silver Airways have to relinquish part of the fleet and urge their suppliers to boost production to satisfy the demand for aircraft parts.
Most airlines are already experiencing flight cancellations and delays at airports worldwide due to a shortage of pilots and loaders. Aircraft manufacturers are seeking to increase production to avoid delays in deliveries as the summer travel increases.
US-French venture CFM International has fallen behind schedule in delivery for two months because of the complexities associated with the transfer of its suppliers. Rolls-Royce is also suffering from delays and is working hard to provide innovative solutions. Meanwhile, its rival Pratt & Whitney intends to increase engine deliveries by the end of the year.
