Amsterdam Airport Schiphol intends to reduce the number of flights in a bid to tackle climate change, noise and air pollution, TravelPulse.com writes. From 2023, the number of aircrafts will be limited up to 440,000 per year. Currently, their number is 500,000.
The global aviation industry produces about two percent of anthropogenic carbon dioxide emissions. So far, the main greening efforts have been based on carbon offsets, but this approach is questionable and do not diminish the global greenhouse gas emissions and other pollutants being released into the atmosphere.
