Strengthening regional cooperation to ensure aviation security in new conditions

From the 11th to 12th of August 2022, the “Aviation Administration of Kazakhstan” JSC with the participation of the Civil Aviation Committee of the Ministry of Industry and Infrastructural Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Administration of Aktau International Airport held the Meeting of International Conference on Aviation Security and Regional Cooperation. The conference was attended by the top management of the aviation authorities of friendly countries of Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan.
Mr. Talgat Lastayev, the Chairman of the Civil Aviation Committee of the Ministry of Industry and Infrastructural Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan, addressed the participants with a greeting. In his speech, he highlighted the high results of the European Experts’ Audit, as a result of which the Republic of Kazakhstan confirmed the compliance with ICAO standards in the field of flight safety as well as according to the results of the ICAO Audit the high performance in the field of aviation security.
At present, the Republic of Kazakhstan is a regional leader in the field of aviation security and flight safety, actively developing partnerships with all countries of Central Asia and the Caucasus.
The Agenda of the Conference included issues of operational information exchange required to ensure safety in Civil Aviation.
The development of interaction and cooperation between the aviation authorities of the countries participating in the conference on the protection of civil aviation from acts of unlawful interference.
The harmonization of the legislations of the participating countries, taking into account international standards and recommended practices of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
Maintaining the professional level of training and retraining of qualified civil aviation personnel, as well as the creation of a coordination group between the participating countries on aviation security.
The ICAO Aviation Security Training Center of the Academy of Civil Aviation of the Republic of Kazakhstan was proposed as a working body of the coordination group.
The purpose of the coordination group is to create an effective mechanism to promote and assist States in achieving the key priorities of the ICAO Global Aviation Security Plan and the quality implementation of ICAO standards and recommended practices, achieving a high level of aviation security through the mutual information exchange and providing assistance to each other.
The Conference participants reached agreements on capacity building, as well as cooperation on aviation security issues under the Agreement on regional cooperation in the field of aviation security.
