Scandinavian SAS filed for bankruptcy

Created on 28.07.2022 10:47

A document filed by SAS with US regulators says the pilots' strike has brought the company into the brink of bankruptcy. Previous negotiations on the timely payment and the wage between the airline and pilots broke down, which triggered the strike.

The filing for bankruptcy will enable the carrier to continue operating, although the strike automatically "cancelled" 50 percent of SAS flights worldwide, affecting about 30,000 passengers a day. After initiating the process, the airline expects to focus on the business restructuring plans.

"Implementing key elements of the plan, SAS and its subsidiaries have voluntarily filed for financial restructuring supervised by the Federal Court," the message says.
