Etihad launches automatic baggage check-in

at Abu Dhabi airport

Automatic baggage check-in allows will reduce the number of airport staff of the airline. Now, after preliminary online check-in for a flight, passengers can arrive at the airport, go to the baggage check-in area and go to one of the devices without a queue. The self-service system will check your passport and booking, confirm your seat on the plane, issue a standard boarding pass, evaluate the weight and size of your suitcase, check in your baggage, and print out a tag. The whole thing takes less than two minutes.

Mr. John Wright Vice President for Network Airports and Cargo Operations of Etihad Airways said: “Etihad expects the number of travelers during the summer holidays it will only grow further. To make your stay at the airport more comfortable for our passengers, Etihad is expanding its self-service options at Abu Dhabi International Airport. They can now avoid long queues by checking in online and going through automated procedures before departure.”

COVID-related travel restrictions have now been completely lifted for travelers flying to Austria, Bahrain, Belgium, United Kingdom, Egypt, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Kuwait, Oman, Russia, Turkey and Switzerland.

The Abu Dhabi-based flag carrier is gearing up for a surge in tourist arrivals at Abu Dhabi International Airport between June 30 and July 15, 2022. During this period, specially trained consultants will work at self-service stations to help travelers in case of any difficulties with the new technology.
