International Airlines Group (IAG), the parent company of British Airways and Spanish Iberia, has placed an order for 150 units of Boeing 737MAX. The order includes only high-capacity aircrafts, the delivery is scheduled for 2023-2027.
According to IAG, new aircrafts will be distributed as replacements in the entire airline group: Ireland's Aer Lingus, Britain's British Airways, Spain's Iberia, and two Spanish low-cost carriers, LEVEL and Vueling. Currently, all these airlines use narrow-body aircrafts of the Airbus A320 family.
"The next-generation aircrafts are generally more fuel-powerful than previous types. This is in line with our strategy to reduce carbon emissions to zero by 2050," the International Airlines Group stated.
